Alexander Ivanovich was born on April 17th, 1954 in Murmansk to Ivan Popov and Olga Koroljova. His father was a respected Russian Party Official, his mother a nurse in the Naval Hospital of the Navy Base in Murmansk, and Alexander was brought up with sound Communist ideals.

At the age of 17 Alexander was accepted to attend St. Petersburg’s Frunze Naval Academy. Founded in 1701, this was and still is today the oldest and most prestigious Russian Naval Academy. After a course of study of 5 years in which Alexander specialized in Weapons Control, he graduated with honors and was allowed to pick his first tour of duty. Alexander chose to be stationed as weapons officer at the naval base in Gadzhievo, in service on the K-50, a November-class nuclear powered submarine.

Due to his high professionalism, sense of strategy and great leadership, Alexander quickly moved up ranks and in 1982 was promoted to XO on the Kilo-class "Komsomolets Tadjkistana". In 1986 Alexander was offered the command of the "Bars", an Akula-class nuclear-powered attack submarine. At the age of 33, Alexander was the youngest officer ever to have been offered command of one of these ships, used on the forefront in the battle against the Capitalist Nations.

In 1990, at the fall of the glorious Soviet Union because of corrupt leaders, the heroic past was forgotten and Alexander Ivanovich was forced to retire. With the decadent emergence of cut-throat capitalism, Alexander found himself begging on the streets of Moscow. With the rise of chaos in Russia, many corporations saw the streets of the once glorious cities to be the perfect breeding ground for test subjects in various fields, from epidemiology to beauty products. Alexander was one of many homeless individuals to be scooped up and transported to one of these facilities.

LegaCorp, an American defense contractor, used Alexander in its research on integration of human and technological elements. Treating experiments like a game and drugging their subjects to the limit, researchers were working on reproducing a well-known character in American Comic books: Wolverine. With methods undisclosed to the present date, Alexander was fitted with claws and the over-human capacity for damage.

LegaCorp was keeping test subjects under control through intensive use of psychoactive drugs. Nevertheless, they underestimated Alexander's willpower. The spirit of the CCCP and the hardened training he had received as a young man never left him. As time passed by, he became more and more comfortable with his "new" body.

One night Alexander succeeded in an attempt to leave the facility, and was never seen again.
